Materials and Specifications for Hollow Conductors

Hollow conductors are primarily manufactured using copper or stainless steel. Copper hollow conductors are characterized by low oxygen content, high electrical conductivity, and excellent mechanical properties. Stainless steel hollow conductors offer high corrosion resistance, low magnetic permeability, and robust mechanical performance, making them particularly well-suited for demanding environments such as nuclear power plants and large-scale (megawatt-class) power generators. Depending on the specific application, these conductors are categorized into types such as copper hollow conductors used for generator stator and rotor coils, and stainless steel hollow conductors designed for supercritical steam turbine generators and nuclear power generators. Specifications vary by application; for instance, the ultra-long, seamless rotor hollow conductors used in 700 MW dual-water-cooled generators can reach lengths of up to 142 meters and weigh as much as 273 kilograms. In the field of power transmission, examples include expanded-diameter hollow conductors, such as the LGKK-600 model.
