What Is A Cupronickel Tube?

A cupronickel tube-formally known as a copper-nickel alloy tube-is a specialized alloy pipe composed primarily of copper, with the addition of a specific proportion of nickel and other trace elements (such as iron or manganese).

In industrial applications, it is generally classified as a type of "white copper" (cupronickel) and is highly valued for its excellent corrosion resistance, robust mechanical properties, and distinctive silvery-white luster. In terms of material characteristics, these tubes not only retain the high electrical and thermal conductivity inherent to copper, but the addition of nickel also significantly enhances their resistance to corrosion in environments such as seawater, steam, and various chemical media-offering, in particular, exceptional resistance to dezincification and stress corrosion cracking. Common grades include B10, B15, B20, and B30, where the numerical value indicates the approximate percentage of nickel content; different grades are suited to different operating conditions.
